Privacy Policy
Effective October 20, 2026
BMAAP — the Black-American Muslim Archival Access Project — is a program of The Floating Freedom Foundation. This policy explains how we handle information on bmaap.org, including committee applications and links to our donation form.
Information you choose to share
Our committee application asks for your name, email address, general location or time zone, areas of interest, relevant experience, motivation, and availability. You may also choose to provide a profile or portfolio link and additional information. Please leave out Social Security numbers, payment information, identity documents, private information about other people, and sensitive archival materials.
We use application information to review your interest, organize committee recruitment, contact you about your application, and coordinate participation. Applying does not subscribe you to a newsletter or text-message program. Applications are stored through Fluent Forms within our WordPress website and are available to authorized project administrators and reviewers.
We are planning an optional BMAAP Community Updates text-message program for project milestones, committee and volunteer opportunities, and event reminders, with up to four messages per month. Enrollment is not open. A future signup will ask separately for your mobile number and express consent; the committee application and donation form do not enroll you. Our SMS Policy describes the planned program and the information we would use to administer it.
Website operation and external services
When you visit the site, our hosting and technical service providers receive information needed to deliver and protect it, such as your IP address, browser information, requested pages, and request times. WordPress and related services may use cookies or similar tools for login, security, and site functions. You can control cookies in your browser; blocking them may affect some functions.
The site loads fonts from Google Fonts and a donation integration from Zeffy. Your browser contacts those providers to request their resources, which can disclose your IP address and technical request information. Zeffy resources may load before you open the donation form. We have not configured an advertising or audience-analytics program on this website.
Read Google’s Privacy Policy and Zeffy’s privacy and security information for details about their services. These providers may process information in countries other than where you live.
Donations
Donations are handled through Zeffy and its payment providers. Information you enter in that form is processed under the notices shown by those services. We may receive donor contact details, donation amounts, transaction status, and records needed to acknowledge and administer gifts. Do not send card or bank details through the committee application or ordinary email.
Who may receive information
We share information with authorized BMAAP and Foundation personnel who need it for the purposes described here, and with service providers that help operate the website, store applications, process donations, or support administration. We may disclose information when legally required or reasonably necessary to protect people, the project, or the security of our services.
We do not sell or rent application or donor information. Mobile telephone numbers and text-message consent will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. Providers supporting message delivery may process that information only to perform that service.
Retention, security, and your choices
We retain information as needed to review applications, manage participation and donations, meet recordkeeping obligations, and resolve questions or disputes. We limit access to people who need it for their work and take reasonable measures to protect it. No website or transmission method can guarantee complete security.
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete information you submitted, or withdraw your application, by contacting us below. We may need to verify your identity and retain records required by law or for legitimate administrative purposes. Withdrawing permission for application follow-up may prevent us from continuing to consider your application. Your legal privacy rights may vary with your location.
Children and archival contributions
This website does not seek personal information from children under 13. A parent or guardian who believes a child has submitted personal information can contact us to request removal. The committee application is not an archival deposit or publication agreement. We will seek a separate arrangement before accepting materials for preservation or making them public.
